Volunteers offer invaluable support to Sharkarosa. They work with visitors and staff, animals, independently and in groups, on weekdays and weekends. They learn, help the ranch with education and conservation activities, and have fun!

Although most volunteers must be at least 18 years old, we do offer a program for younger teens. An interest in animals and their conservation, along with the ability/desire to work with guests is a must. All participants are chosen through an application and interview process. Positions are limited. 

Saturday volunteer slots are available once volunteer training is complete. All volunteer training must be done during the week. Background checks will be done on all pending applicants.

The program is open to youth ages 15 -17. Our teen volunteers provide a number of services:
1. Assist staff in cleaning out habitats, scrubbing water bowls, preparing diets.
2. Act as teacher aides to Ranch staff during field trips(Spring, Summer & Fall).
3. Act as teacher aids during Summer Camp; preparing and assisting campers with activities.


Prospective teen applicants and a parent or guardian are required to attend our Teen Volunteer Info & Interview Night on Tuesday, March 9th 2010 from 6:30 to 8pm. Any teens to apply at Sharkarosa for the Spring/Summer 2010 season must attend this session.

Reservations are not necessary. Please bring your volunteer application, or a copy of your application, with you to this session.
